Somewhere Lombok is a high-end villa-only resort remotely situated in South Lombok, overlooking Prabu Village and the Are Guling Bay.
The hotel is owned by sisters Valia and Claire Gontard. The Gontard sisters were inspired by Indonesia, its people, and its culture. In collaboration with SWDesign and the Hong Kong-based branding and design studio Eight Partnership, they managed to create what is now a luxe nature hideaway with a restaurant, spa, and 20 independent villas.
The best part is that each villa has a 16-square-meter terrace with a mini plunge pool overlooking the lush greenery of the valley and village below. There are some more homey touches, like a fruit basket, a rattan beach bag, and vegan toiletries by the well-known Indonesian brand Sensatia Botanicals.
The main idea was to create an equally luxurious and eco-friendly space with regionally sourced and produced decor and materials. Building and furnishing the hotel sustainably, the sisters behind it source timber locally, rely on natural ventilation and daylight, and recycle waste and water. They also support the local community, sourcing materials from nearby artisans and farmers.
Since the hotel has an uphill location, the Somewhere Lombok provides regularly scheduled shuttles to and from the beach and requested shuttle rides to and from the nearby town of Kuta.
